Brown University shooting: two dead, suspect at large

(The Center Square) – Two people are dead and eight more injured after an active shooter opened fire at Brown University on Saturday. Local law enforcement said during an evening news conference that few details are available on the at-large suspect, described as a male wearing all black, who opened fire in Barus & Holley Building during final exams Saturday afternoon. “This is a very fluid situation and dynamically evolving,” said Rodney Chatman, chief of the Brown University’s Police Department. “Needless to say my primary concern is the safety and security of this community, and we are encouraging if anyone has information about the tragic events that unfolded this afternoon to please contact us and provide that information.” Tim O’Hara, deputy chief of the Providence Police Department, said that the shooter fled the building on foot via Hope Street and the city remains on lockdown. “The shelter in place is still in order and I urge people to take that very seriously,” he said.
